PennDot says in 2021, statewide traffic deaths increased to 1,230 from 1,129 the year before… a rise of about 9%. That figure was close to the prediction recently released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of a national increase of approximately 12% in the first nine months of 2021. Fatalities in crashes involving impaired driving decreased. Pedestrian fatalities increased.
