No Rest for Mifflin County Regional Police

Mifflin County Regional Police, while on patrol recently in Burnham, pulled over 36- year-old Jeffrey Decker II of Milroy for driving while his license was under suspension. Police then learned  that there were several outstanding warrants for Decker, who was then taken into custody. When he was searched, officers discovered that he was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Decker now faces a string of serious charges.

Mifflin County Regional Police answered a call from the Sheetz Store in Burnham for a report of theft and a group of juveniles acting in a disorderly manner. Officers learned that a 14 year old girl stole store merchandise. She was issued a citation for retail theft. The disorderly group of juveniles was dispersed. Sheetz personnel told police that it’s an ongoing problem in the after school hours.

A hit and run crash happened on South Main Street in Yeagertown. Police say a 2018 Subaru Outback operated by 62-year-old Richard R. Miller of Yeagertown hit a Mitsubishi Expo. The driver of that Mitsubishi told Mifflin County Regional officers who responded, that Miller was clearly intoxicated. Officers later caught up with Miller at his residence and they confirmed that he was indeed intoxicated. His damaged vehicle was also sitting at his house. Miller was taken to the Geisinger Lewistown Hospital for a chemical test of his blood. Charges are pending toxicology results.

Police were called to the Sheetz Store in Burnham about a possible domestic dispute. Officers were told that a woman was hiding inside the store from a man seen operating a white cargo van in the area. Police identified that man as 45-year-old Robert Rupert of Lewistown. His van was found in the parking lot of the shopping plaza in Burnham, and Rupert was seen running south on South Logan Blvd. He was found hiding in a stream near the Boulevard Station car wash. After Rupert ignored police commands to come out, they had to forcibly remove him from the creek. Rupert was taken to Mifflin County Prison, where he now faces charges including Strangulation, Simple Assault, and Flight to Avoid Apprehension.
