PennDOT on Wednesday, gave an update on its highway resurfacing project on Route 1005 (Valley Street) in Lewistown Borough and Derry Township, Mifflin County. Starting Monday, the southbound lane of Valley Street between the intersections of Walnut and Dorcas streets will be closed. The northbound lane heading toward Route 22/Electric Avenue will remain open. On-street parking will be prohibited along the open northbound lane in the construction area,. Detours will be put in place until some time in Mid August, and PennDOT urges all drivers to expect short travel delays and build extra time into their travel schedules. PennDOT also advises drivers to exercise caution and to be alert for construction vehicles making sudden stops… and don’t follow construction vehicles into the closed lane as they deliver material.
