According to numbers released this week by the state department of labor and industry, the unemployment rate in Huntingdon County increased a bit for the month of August. The jobless rate for August came in at 5.9%, slightly higher than the 5.6% reported in July. August’s number is the same as June, reflecting little change overall. Meanwhile, the statewide unemployment rate fell, but only by just one-tenth of a percentage point to 4.2%. The jobless rate in Mifflin County came in at 3.5% and it was 4.3% in Juniata County.
