Sheetz… based in Altoona… has long had a strong foothold in central Pennsylvania, but now a major challenger is moving in. On Thursday, Wawa announced plans to build 40 new stores in central PA… part of a major expansion nationwide that includes hundreds of new stores over the past few years in many southern states. Wawa is based in Delaware County, but soon will be more visible throughout what has traditionally been Sheetz territory. Interestingly enough, a documentary about the rivalry between the two companies is also currently in the works.
