More Fast Chargers on the Way

A new program offered by PennDOT will provide more than $170 million for vehicle charging infrastructure over the next five years. The plans call for building DC fast charging stations at intervals of 50 miles apart along major highways under a program called the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program, aimed at helping to meet the increasing demand of electric vehicles. The direct current fast chargers can re-charge a vehicle in about 20 to 30 minutes. They would be set up mainly at businesses such as restaurants, convenience stores, truck stops, and shopping centers… most of them near interstate exits.
